PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This math skills worksheet / mini-lesson features multiplication arrays to help students to better understand the operation of multiplication. The strategy is to have students model the sample provided at the top of the first page. The sample shows the number of rows and columns being used, a picture of the array in blocks, then a number sentence and finally the product. Most students should be able to proceed to finish the remaining 10 problems on their own. For students requiring more instruction; however, just show them and explain the final two pages, which is my answer key. Using this completed chart can serve as a strategy to help students see how the rows, the columns, the number sentence, and the product are all related.
This worksheet is multi-functional. It can be used for practice, review, or in a math center, as a quiz, or for homework. It would work well in Grade 2, when students are being introduced to multiplication. It would also give 3rd and 4th graders beneficial practice and test preparation for their math skills in multiplication. The answer key is the last two pages, which can also serve as an instructional tool for students struggling with the concept.
