This year our school had moved to a partial block schedule. Three days a week we have a 45 minute block and 1 day a week we teach an 80 minute block. This new schedule is allowing us to incorporate a math workshop model. Included here is the outline, including check-in, reflection, mini-lesson, and station time, for a typical 80 minute block math workshop. This is the outline I have for myself, but I also used an edited version with my students. I took out some of the lines and creating a fill-in-the-blank that we completed as a class to familiarize ourselves with the schedule. I have found the check-in format, the mini-lesson time, and the reflection to be key components in the success of the workshop model.
