Looking for a fun way to incorporate a variety of math into your social studies instruction? Do you teach about each U.S. state? Have students complete these addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems to learn about the state's symbols and quick facts. Using the answers, students answer place value questions to learn about each state's capital, nickname, tree, flower, animal, and bird.
For each state students will:
-Answer 6 different math problems:
-Using the answer, students will answer place value questions (place, value, comparing numbers, and rounding)
-Students will discover and record the state's capital, nickname, tree, flower, animal, and bird
-Students will find the state on a US map.
Different states have different corresponding skills:
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia
Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland
➙2-digit by 1-digit multiplication:
Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana
➙3-digit by 1-digit multiplication:
Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York
➙Division without remainders:
North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania
➙Division with remainders:
Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah
Mixed Practice-Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division:
Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming
