PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this issue of Math in the News we explore the dramatic box office returns of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Since many of your students have likely seen the movie, they can appreciate the implications of so many ticket purchases. Not only does this provide an excellent application of data analysis, it provides an excellent opportunity to apply concepts of linear systems. By looking at the revenue equation and the expense equation, students can determine the number of tickets that need to be sold for Disney to recoup its investment in the Star Wars franchise. We provide a graphical solution to the system.
Note: This is a PPT file that requires Microsoft PowerPoint on your computer.
