PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

One of our most popular issues of Math in the News!

In this issue we explore the transport of the Space Shuttle Discovery by a 747, as it is delivered to the Air and Space Museum. How heavy is the Space Shuttle? How does transporting the Shuttle compare to transporting a plane full of passengers and luggage?

We look at NASA data, make reasonable assumptions, and walk students through the calculations. It's an excellent example of real world problem solving using current event.

The download is a PowerPoint file.
