It’s the day before winter break and teaching an actual lesson seems virtually impossible, but we all know we must take advantage of precious instructional time (and keep the classroom from becoming a zoo)! This lesson allows students to use their creative juices while reviewing parent functions. Students will first draw the shape of each function and then use these shapes to create their own holiday drawings! Each line should be labeled with the corresponding parent function.
I use this lesson on the last day before winter break and allow students to complete it while watching a Christmas movie. This keeps the class under control and on task but does not require much strenuous work from the students (or me!). However, this lesson can be adapted for any event or holiday. It’s a great, productive filler and students really enjoy the activity. I love seeing their creative side and having instant decor for my room and hallway!
This product includes a Parent Function handout with instructions as well as an answer key and example drawings.
