PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Math:Math Questions for Grades 3-5 { yes or no? Prove it! }

This is a set of 35 math questions that can be used for whole group, independent work, centers, during math workshop, or however else you would like to use them. They will work perfectly as a means of seeing if students are understanding the topic you are studying. It would make a perfect independent Friday activity to see if they are understanding the week's concept. When a student has to 'prove' something, you can really tell what math concepts they are grasping.

In my classroom this year, I will be using this as a weekly math center called, "Yes No... Prove It!"

Each math organizer sheet consists of a basic math question (see the preview picture above for a sample). The students will then answer yes or no to the question, they will circle any basic operations they had to use (add, subtract, multiply, divide), they will then prove their answer using some suggested methods such as pictures, words, labels, charts, etc., they will tell the math concepts covered in the question (such as division, fractions, place value, etc), and finally they will tell their findings in a complete sentence.

Some of the topics covered are: place value, greater than/less than, decimals, money, elapsed time, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurement, and rounding.

There are three different patterns used for organizers: owl images, monster images, and dog images.

I have also included a blank page of each pattern for you to write your own questions if you would like. You may be able to create a text box and type the question if you have a newer version of adobe, but if not, you can hand write the question and make copies.
