Mathematical Thinking can be seen as a task, enrichment, or a starter in the classroom. Regardless, it is a problem that makes students think while supporting the CCSS standard listed utilizing the Mathematical Practices.
This Mathematical Thinker poses the problem splitting fundraiser money 3 ways. It is a more applicable way than just dividing a number by 3. The situation also has a catch that should make students think...It doesn't work out evenly so the student has a decision to make.
I have designed this lesson to work directly with Pearson's EnVision lesson 4-5.
