PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this webquest, students will use the internet to answer 8 questions about the famous Four Color Theorem. (This theorem states that only four colors are necessary to color any map so no adjacent spaces share the same color.)

I love this theorem because it shows students that math can help to solve some really interesting problems. It is also a complex theorem that can be boiled down to something that even young students can relate to and understand.

Students should have access to the internet to complete this activity.

I have also included a map that students can use to practice coloring using the rules of the Four Color Theorem.

I have also included several links to (1) places where you can get more information about the Four Color Theorem and (2) youtube videos that you may wish to show your class as an introduction to the Four Color Theorem.

An answer key to the questions is included.
