This package is a unit suitable for ideally grade 5 to 7. I designed it to be used as a Data Management or Graphing unit where students have to read and interpret graphs, draw graphs, and collect data.
The hands-on part of the unit is based on the "Minute to Win it" gameshow, where students complete 5 fun Mathlympic events such as cup stacking, dice balancing, and coin sorting.
The package consists of the following
2 pages blank black and white and colour borders in case you want to add anything
1 page lesson plans and unit overview
3 page of graphing terms, and types of graphs, on a cut out sheet to be used in an interactice notebook
2 problem posters with deeper level thinking questions for students
1 page strong and weak graph page
Several pages of sample graphs and situations where students make inferences about graphs
Five Pages of Mathlympic Events -each page in colour describing rules for event
Five pages of score sheets. Each event has a different tally or score sheet
Final graphing instructions and lesson ideas
anecdotal assessment pages matched to achievement chart categories
rubric page for final graph
If you have any ideas for events to add, please let me know, I will type them up and add them to the unit!
