Aimed at STAGE 2 in Australia (3rd/4th grade), this is an investigation with many steps for students to work through at their own pace to show their understanding of concepts taught. Use this resource as a part of content teaching or as an assessment. I've used it in both forms, and the benefit of doing it as a class activity is that students can choose to work independently or in small groups which promotes the use of chance vocabulary. As an assessment it really showed what students are capable of as there are some open ended tasks.
