“Who Wants 0?” is a 7 lesson enrichment program for gifted and talented students. It is ideally presented in small groups where there can be rich student / teacher discussions about each activity.
The lessons explore place value and the importance of placing zero to determine value. It explores how big is one million with a variety of measurement activities. It also includes a game that students will be happy to play over and over to develop thinking and strategy skills.
Note: Two activities include using M & M’s. These are great end of term or program activities. Other lollies or non food items could be used to replace M & M’s.
Maths Concepts are: Place Value, Basic Operations, Length & Volume
