I wrote this resource to ensure that my students were practising the skills specifically required for their Numeracy stage, during their independent station. A great resource to incorporate within your Maths rotations, all year. The Stage 4 level refers to the New Zealand Numeracy Project Stages. This collection of student games have been designed to boost and consolidate instant recognition/recall of number concepts for students working with numbers to 100 and with 2 digit numbers. In New Zealand, that equates to students in Years 3-4 (ages of 7-9). However - this resource will be a welcome addition of independent activities to the maths programme of any classroom where small group teaching occurs and students are allocated independent tasks where they need to be meaningfully engaged, e.g Daily 5 for Maths. Strengthens interpersonal and problem solving skills too. This is an alternative, game based learning to worksheets set within a robust management and reflection framework. 72 pages. Themes covered:
Sequencing & ordering numbers,
Grouping & Place Value,
Games based on old favourites like: bingo, puzzle match, I have-who has, connect 3, etc.
Game box labels,
Game masters - photocopiable
Student reflective game tracking sheets
