This product is part four of a novel study, which is close reading packet, for Matilda, by Roald Dahl.
I have broken the novel up into five parts. These questions are specifically for the following chapters: Miss Honey’s Story, The Names, The Practice, The Third Miracle, and Miss Honey’s Cottage. I will be creating a vocabulary unit for the novel as well, but the vocabulary is not included in this product. This product includes a full answer key, with page numbers.
It also includes a page with some suggested discussion questions that are not included on the novel study pages for the students.
This packet asks mostly right there questions, but it does include a few inference questions, figurative language questions (simile and metaphor), and also asks the students to cite evidence to support their answers. It also asks students to make predictions and to practice visualization. These guided questions are a great way to learn how to cite evidence to support your answer, and to get in the habit of doing it. Some of the questions only want a couple of words as an answer, and others want full sentences.
This is a great tool to use in class, or as homework. Also perfect for when you have subs!
I taught this with my 6th grade resource students. This book includes a lot of difficult words, and the jargon is different because it takes place in Europe.
It has a Lexile Level of 840.
It is recommended for Grades 3-5.
GE is 5.2 (According to Scholastic Book Wizard).
