Get students excited about solving 3x3 systems of linear equations with the Matrix Relay Activity
Students will solve 3×3 systems of equations
using augmented matrices and calculators. They will “run a relay,” passing off their calculator to their teammates as a baton in between solving problems. Solving using inverse matrices works great with this activity, too!
This activity is designed to increase student fluency with solving systems using technology with matrices. Teachers will notice natural opportunities for informal assessment while students are busy keeping their teams on track.
