PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This presentation is a combination of all 6 matter SMARTBoard presesentations I have available for the fourth grade. Included are the following:

Compounds – A Fourth Grade SMARTBoard Introduction is a SMARTBoard 4th grade level instructional presentation
It includes: a SMARTBoard presentation of the text along with one fully interactive slide that is also available in PDF format to print and issue as classwork, homework, or attach/incorporate into an interactive notebook.

The presentation includes:
• Introduction to compounds terminology (compound, acid, and base)
• Differences between mixtures and compounds
• Common compounds and the elements that make them up
• Introduction to acids, bases, and litmus paper

The last slide is a white-background slide used for the printable. The printable is already in PDF form in the package. The white-background page is not included in the total pages. I include it in case you would like to change any of the data and recreate the printable.

The interactive/review slide and printable:
• Activity has students identifying common compounds by moving the elements that make them up into the boxes above the picture/name. The compound names basically give the element names to the students. The activity is designed as an introduction to how elements combine. You can incorporate chemical formulas or amounts of each element if you choose.

Mixtures and Solutions – A Fourth Grade SMARTBoard Introduction is a SMARTBoard 4th grade level instructional presentation
It includes: a SMARTBoard presentation of the text along with two fully interactive slides that are also available in PDF format to print and issue as classwork, homework, or attach/incorporate into an interactive notebook.

The presentation includes:
• Introduction to terminology (mixture, solution, alloy, filter, filtration, and distillation)
• Mixtures explained
• Solutions explained (including alloys and how chemical properties might vary).
• Separating mixtures (including settling, magnets, and filtration).
• Separtating solutions (distillation and evaporation).

The last 2 slides are white-background slides used for the printables. The printables are already in PDF form in the package. The white-background pages are not included in the total pages. I include them in case you would like to change any of the data and recreate the printables.

The interactive/review slides and printables:
• Activity one has students identifying terminology through a matching activity. Terms included are mixture, solution, settling, alloy, magnet, filtration, evaporation, distillation, and filter.
• Activity two has students viewing a made up filtration system that filters 5 different types of balls. They must determine the bin that the balls will end up in based on characteristics of the filters (a very fun activity).

Matter – Physical and Chemical Changes is a SMARTBoard 4th grade level instructional presentation
It includes: a SMARTBoard presentation of the text along with two fully interactive slides that are also available in PDF format to print and issue as classwork, homework, or attach/incorporate into an interactive notebook.

The presentation includes:
• Introduction to matter terminology (physical change, change of state, evaporation, rust, chemical change, and tarnish)
• How physical changes occur
• Everyday physical changes and clues as to physical changes occurring
• Change of state introduced (including melting, boiling, evaporation, and cooling)
• Explanation of chemical changes with examples
• How to identify chemical changes

The last 2 slides are white-background slides used for the printables. The printables are already in PDF form in the package. The white-background pages are not included in the total pages. I include them in case you would like to change any of the data and recreate the printables.

The interactive/review slides and printables:
• Activity one has students identifying terminology through a matching activity. Terms included are physical change, change of state, evaporation, chemical change, melting, condensation, boiling, rust, and tarnish.
• Activity two has students determining whether changes illustrated are physical or chemical changes. There are 15 pictures/descriptions to identify.

Measuring Matter – A Fourth Grade SMARTBoard Introduction is a SMARTBoard 4th grade level instructional presentation
It includes: a SMARTBoard presentation of the text along with four fully interactive slides that are also available in PDF format to print and issue as classwork, homework, or attach/incorporate into an interactive notebook.

The presentation includes:
• Introduction to measuring matter terminology (metric system, length, area, weight, density, and gravity)
• Standard and metric systems of measurement explained
• Length/width, area, and volume introduced
• Finding area and volume for non-rectangular shapes
• Density overview
• How density affects buoyancy
• Weight vs. mass

The last 4 slides are white-background slides used for the printables. The printables are already in PDF form in the package. The white-background pages are not included in the total pages. I include them in case you would like to change any of the data and recreate the printables.

The interactive/review slides and printables:
• Activity one has students identifying terminology through a matching activity. Terms included are metric system, standard system, density, buoyancy, area, length, gravity, graduated cylinder, width, volume, and weight.
• Activity two has students calculating and converting millimeters and centimeters.
• Activity three has students identifying volume and determining mid-range measurements between listed volume values using knowledge of fractions.
• Activity four has students calculating area with length and width given. Two questions have shapes that are a combination of two rectangles. Students will have to find the two areas and add them together.

Classification of Matter – A Fourth Grade SMARTBoard Introduction is a SMARTBoard 4th grade level instructional presentation
It includes: a SMARTBoard presentation of the text along with two fully interactive slides that are also available in PDF format to print and issue as classwork, homework, or attach/incorporate into an interactive notebook.

The presentation includes:
• Introduction to matter classification terminology (element, atom, matter, and periodic table)
• The make-up of matter
• Metals, metalloids, and non-metals
• Mendeleev and the basics of the periodic table

The last 2 slides are white-background slides used for the printables. The printables are already in PDF form in the package. The white-background pages are not included in the total pages. I include them in case you would like to change any of the data and recreate the printables.

The interactive/review slides and printables:
• Activity one has students identifying terminology through a matching activity. Terms included are element, atom, metal, gas, periodic table, Mendeleev, period, symbol, metalloid, and atomic number.
• Activity two has students collecting information from a partial periodic table.

Matter – A Fourth Grade SMARTBoard Introduction is a SMARTBoard 4th grade level instructional presentation
