Sorts are the perfect way for my students to practice what they know! Make sure that your students are able to tell the difference between some of the key terms and vocabulary involved in this important topic. This would be a perfect assessment or interactive notebook activity after teaching about ecosystems. This activity meets Georgia's Standards for Science but are not specific and can be used for other grades & states. Students are asked to cut out each sentence or picture and match it with the following words:
herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, food web, food chain, decomposer, decay, photosynthesis, microorganism, recycling, scavenger, predator, prey
They then glue under the correct heading on the included sheet OR paste into a science interactive journal. An answer key is included for easy grading.
