The purpose of Sequential Chemistry is to supplement the classroom presentation of a unit topic. The activity can be used as an introduction to a topic, as a unit review, or as a means for absent students to keep pace with their class. It is believed that the presentation of small increments of information in a logical step-by-step sequence will enable the student to comprehend the basic facts of a topic in a shorter period of time.
With Sequential Chemistry, students will immediately discover whether their response was correct. Because of the small increments of information being presented at any one time, few errors will be made by the students resulting in more positive reinforcement. This will build confidence in the student’s ability to comprehend chemistry and encourage further study.
