In this end-of-year activity, students complete two letters.
~The first letter is written to the teacher they'll have next year. It gives the student an opportunity to reflect on their strengths and areas they may need help in during the upcoming school year. It also allows the student to describe their personality traits and opinions about school. This is a great way for teachers to get to know their incoming students. I like to tuck this into students' portfolios with their work samples.
~The second letter is written to students coming into your grade level. In this letter, students will tell upcoming students what their grade and teacher will be like. Students always come up with interesting assessments of both you and their school year! I like to send this letter home at the beginning of the new school year along with my welcome letter to students.
