Are you ready for May? Maybe you're like me and you are facing down the last month of school-or maybe you have a little bit longer left and your kids are coming down with SUMMER FEVER! Either way, I made this set of math stations to get us through the warm, crazy, month of May! These are the math stations that I made for my own personal first grade classroom. In this set you will find EIGHT math centers to keep your students engaged and reviewing all month long!
The centers included are:
1.) Triple Scoops: Students will read word problems and assemble the corresponding ice cream bowls to match the problem. There are also FOUR cut and paste sheets to go with this center! This center addreses 1.OA.A.2.
2.) Spring Showers, May Flowers: Students will find the missing number in an equation and sort cards according to their answers. Two versions are included for differentiation. One set works with sums to ten and the other practices sums to twenty. There is a recording sheet for each version. This standard addresses 1.OA.D8.
3.) Place Value Pool Party: This is a task card center where students count the base ten blocks on each card and record their answers. There are two sets of cards included for this center: one for representations of "teen" numbers/multiples of ten and another for representations of numbers up to 99. This standard addresses 1.NBT.B.2.A.
4.) Commotion in the Ocean: Students will practice two-digit addition in this station by solving the task cards and recording the answers on the recording sheet. There are two sets of cards-this is a station I plan on leaving out for a while in May! This center addresses 1.NBTC.4.
5.) Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!: In this lemonade party themed station, students will line up the numbers that are one less, one more, ten less, and ten more than a given number. A recording sheet is provided. This center addresses 1.NBT.C.5.
6.) A Day at the Beach: Students will complete two-digit subtraction problems that focus on subtracting multiples of ten from multiples of ten. This is a skill that I want my students to work on from now until the end of the school year, so there are 3 sets of cards for this center and a recording sheet. This center addresses 1.NBT.C.6.
7.) Fractions on the Farm: In this farm-themed matching game, students will match up representations of whole shapes, shapes divided into halves, and shapes divided into fourths/quarters with the corresponding vocabulary term. A cut and paste worksheet for accountability is provided. This center addresses 1.GA.3.
8.) Blowing Bubbles: Students will practice ordering numbers from least to greatest in this station before completing a greater than/less than cut and paste sorting worksheet. This center addresses 1.NBT.B.3.
All centers are provided in BOTH color and black and white in case color ink is scarce! For each center a student-friendly directions page is included (with a standards-based "I can" statement) as well as a "Teacher Tips" page. Please check out the large preview file to see pictures of what's included for each station!
