This is a packet full of math and literacy activities for first grade in the month of May. All activities require NO PREP and are FUN and engaging for students. They are common core aligned and the standard addressed is printed at the top of each sheet. Perfect for celebrating Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, spring, and Cinco de Mayo!

*Addition Facts: Practice answering addition problems to 20 quickly
*Addition Word Problems: Read the word problem, write the number sentence, and answer the question (using three addends)
*Adjectives: Use three adjectives to describe each noun
*Capitalization: Rewrite the sentences using capital letters correctly.
*Characters and Setting: Read the Memorial Day story and draw a picture of the setting and characters.
*Conjunctions (2): Fill in the missing conjunctions to complete the sentences / story.
*Defining Attributes: Write one defining attribute for each shape.
*Digraph Story: Fill in the missing digraphs to complete the baseball story..
*Double Digit Addition: Practice solving double-digit addition problems
*Double Digit Subtraction: Practice solving double-digit subtraction problems.
*Prepositions: Fill in the missing prepositions to complete the sentences.
*Main Idea and Key Details: Read the passages and write the main idea and key details for each
*Make-a-Sentence: Complete the sentences by adding verbs, nouns, and adjectives
*Memorial Day Writing: Write about Memorial Day - Word boxes with helpful words included
*Mother’s Day Sequencing: Read the story and cut out pictures from the story to put it in order
*Mexican Food Graph: Ask your classmates about their favorite Mexican food, complete the bar graph, and answer the questions.
*My Mom is the Best Writing (3 Pages): Brainstorm, make an outline, and write about your mom. Give reasons why she is the best mom.
*Noun, Verb, Adjective, Pronoun Sort: Sort the words into the correct categories
*Number Words: Write the number words and sort them by whether or not they are spelled the way they sound.
*Proofreading Practice: Read the passage, circle the mistakes, and rewrite the passage correctly
*Retelling a Story: Read the story, put it in order, and answer the comprehension question
*Identifying Reasons: Read the passage and identify the reasons the author gives for her opinion.
*Spring Book: Illustrate and construct a book about spring.
*Subtraction Facts: Practice subtracting within 10 as fast as you can.
*What’s the Word?: Use the sentence’s context to guess the miss word.
*Word Sort: Sort words by whether or not they are spelled the way they sound.
