This activity is a good review of understanding how to "Write the Equation of the Absolute Value Function from the Graph" . This activity focuses on three type of transformations of absolute value parent function:
- Horizontal Translation
- Vertical Translation
- Reflection across the x-axis
The graph of an "Absolute Value Function" is provided. Student will have to come up with an absolute value function written in g(x) = a|x - h| + k that matches the graph. Only the above transformations are illustrated in this activity. Another activity is on the way which will include "Stretching and Compressing".
There are 19 absolute value functions provided in this maze. From start to end, the student will be able to answer 15 questions out of the 19 provided to get to the end of the maze.
This maze could be used as: a way to check for understanding, a review, recap of the lesson, pair-share, cooperative learning, exit ticket, entrance ticket, homework, individual practice, when you have time left at the end of a period, beginning of the period (as a warm up or bell work), before a quiz on the topic, and more.
