This maze is a good review of "The Conjugate Root Theorem"
. Students are expected to be familiar with:
- Polynomial Functions (Definition)
- Irrational Conjugates
- Complex Conjugates
There are 19 questions in which some of the zeros to a polynomial function with rational coefficients are provided. Students are asked to find ALL additional zeros. These zeros are irrationals and/or complex and must be found by knowing "Conjugates". The understanding of applying this theorem is used in writing a polynomial function using these roots.
This activity is a fun way to practice the theorem and become familiar with how its applied. From start to end, the student will be able to answer 16 questions out of the 19 provided to get to the end of the maze.
This maze could be used as:
a way to check for understanding, a review, recap of the lesson, pair-share, cooperative learning, exit ticket, entrance ticket, homework, individual practice, when you have time left at the end of a period, beginning of the period (as a warm up or bell work), before a quiz on the topic, and more. After completing this activities, students would have a deeper understanding of the meaning of "The Conjugate Root Theorem" and how its applied.
