This activity is a good review of understanding how to <"Writing a Quadratic Equation given the Vertex and a Point."
. Equations will be written in Vertex Form
. Students will work with Questions where the vertex and a random point on the graph is provided. Students would need to be able to use the Vertex Form of Quadratic Functions and substitute the vertex and the point to get the value of "a". Then, substitute the vertex and "a" back into the vertex form for the final answer. The vertex or/and point may be of the following format:
☑ Coordinates of the vertex and point are all integers
☑ the "x" or "y" coordinate of the vertex maybe a zero
☑ the "x" or "y" coordinate of the point maybe a zero
The final answers are given using the vertex form and maybe one of the followings where "a" maybe an integer or a fraction:
☑ y = a(x - h)² + k
☑ y = a(x - h)², or
☑ y = ax² + k
☑ y = x²
There are 15 questions provided in this maze. From start to end, the student will be able to choose 13 functions out of the 15 provided to get to the end of the maze. A suggested STEP-BY-STEP
solution is provided in this product.
This maze could be used as:
a mean of differentiation, a formative assessment, a way to check for understanding, a review, recap of the lesson, pair-share, cooperative learning, exit ticket, entrance ticket, homework, individual practice, when you have time left at the end of a period, beginning of the period (as a warm up or bell work), before a quiz on the topic, and more.
