These worksheets supplement the Big Books read in Wonders Units 5-10. It is a great resource to prepare your little kiddos for test taking. There are 4 questions on each page: Questions # 1 & 2 are DOK Level 1/multiple choice questions (recall); Question #3 is a DOK Level 1/Drawing Response (identify/retell); and Question # 4 is a DOK Level 2 or 3/Short answer (inference/opinion). These worksheets teach students that their answers need to come directly from the text. Since the questions are scaffolded, you can assess all learners. Students with advance skills will be able to answer question #4 and they can also self-assess their sentence structure with the check-list on each page.
I usually introduce this worksheet after we have read the story several times and we have discussed this story in depth. It can be done with the whole class, used as a test, or used to practice written responses. I think Unit 5 is a good time to begin implementing these types of worksheets in the curriculum. It requires higher level thinking and written responses.
I collect these worksheets and compile them for each student so that I can see each students progress.
