I made homework sheets that go along with the McGraw Wonders Program Grade K. This set includes four days of work for each Unit (Start Smart through Unit 4); 60 days of homework printed on 30 pages. The homework sheets focus on Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words. There is also some basic math concept practice.
The homework sheets are formatted in landscape and each page has two days of work. I give four days of homework each week. I print out the homework for the week (double-sided) and attach it to a reading passage. (For Units 1-3 I type out the Wonders decodable passages from the weekly shared read and for Units 4-10 I use the Decodable Passages from the Teacher’s Resource Book).
It is a great time saver to give the students their homework for the week that is stored in their homework folders. I spot check it in the morning to see which students might need additional assistance.
Since the Wonders Program focuses on one letter per week, we practice learning ALL of the letter names and sounds daily. Some of the sheets in this set might include letters that were not explicitly taught but should have been introduced at some point in the Wonders Program or in my daily letter practice.
These worksheets supplement the Wonders Reading Program and students should be able to complete them independently if you include phonemic awareness drills and phonics practice in your instruction.
