This is a set of text dependent questions that correlate with the McGraw Hill Wonders Reading Series. These questions go along with the story from Unit 4, Week 2 "A Window Into History: They Mystery of the Cellar Window". The questions I have created require students to delve into the text in order to seek out the answers. A close read is necessary to successfully answer the questions. Students are questioned about genre, mood, point of view, adages, and comprehension.
I have also included an additional writing activity to correlate with this story. I have created a newspaper template and several headlines that might have been written by several of the characters from the play. Students are instructed to write the article from that characters point of view and include text examples in the article to create the characters "voice". A rubric has been included to aid in grading this assignment. I believe this is a wonderful way to have students gain an understanding of point of view, which is one of the skills focused on during this week's story.
I have several other products that relate to this story including vocabulary cards, a vocabulary organizer, and a vocabulary review. I have also created a spelling activity sheet that correlate with this unit. Thank you so much for considering my products. Please leave feedback if you enjoy using these products in your classroom.
