This is an activity sheet that correlates with the McGraw Hill Wonders Reading series. This activity sheet aligns with the spelling words found in Unit 5, week 2. A variety of activities are included in this sheet. Students are asked to use the words in a sentence. Directions are given for students to include each of the 4 different types of sentences. Students are asked to illustrate and define 3 pair of homophones. Students will also be required to write their spelling words in alphabetical order. Finally, they will be assessed on their understanding of the meanings of the homophones by completing riddles involving the homophone pairs. They will also be asked to edit several sentences to find spelling errors. This activity sheet may be given on Monday and required to be completed by the end of the week. It would also be appropriate for portions of it to be done in class, in a literacy center, or in partners. Overall, this is a great way to assess your student's understanding of the word meanings of the homophones and evaluate their language arts skills at the same time.
