This is a vocabulary organizer that aligns with the McGraw Hill Wonders Reading Series. This vocabulary organizer correlates with the reading story from Unit 4, Week 3, "Rosa".
This vocabulary organizer includes the definition of the words, a place for students to create their own definition, draw a picture to represent the word, and the sentence from the text that uses the vocabulary word. This will allow students to use context clues to create a more concrete definition of the vocabulary word. Each of these activities are aligned with Marzano's vocabulary instructional strategies.
The vocabulary organizer can be displayed and completed with the entire class. I do this weekly with my vocabulary organizer as I am introducing the words. It is a great way to keep all of my students engaged and participating while we fill in our organizer together. I find this is a great opportunity for students to engage in academic conversation to create definitions that give them ownership of the vocabulary terms.
