This is a set of text dependent questions that correlate with the McGraw Hill Wonders Reading Series, "The Future of Transportation". I have created a set of questions that go along with the passages on "Do Genetically Modified Foods Benefit the World?" found on workbook pages 43 and 44. The questions I have created require students to look back in the text to find their answers. Students are asked to state both authors opinions on genetically modified food and include text evidence to support their answer. I encourage my students to highlight the portion of the passage that helps them find their answer. I believe this is a great way to prepare students to take standardized tests as well as form a habit of "proving" their answers by finding text support. This is a skill that students MUST conquer in order to be successful with the new common core standards.
A writing prompt has also been included based upon both articles. The students are asked to write an opinion piece comparing and contrasting both authors' articles. This is an effective way to prepare students for state writing assessments and the upcoming writing portions for PARCC.
I have several other activities that correlate with this story. Please take a look and see if anything interests you. I have a lesson plan bundle that includes everything I have created for this story as well. This is a GREAT way to have everything you'll need to supplement your curriculum to teach this story thoroughly. Thank you for considering my products. Please leave feedback if you enjoy using them in your classroom and to receive your TPT credits. THANKS!
