This Common Core based file developed by Tatyana Baty, Third grade teacher, covers Unit Two, next five long reading practice driven passages, in McGraw Hill Wonders Reading Series Third Grade "Lock" Book. The purpose of these Reading Journal work pages is to provide the students with explicit practice of the applied knowledge that was introduced in the first part of the lesson of the "Key" Book and the instructional Tri-Folds that go with every lesson.
These pages allow students to respond to text with evidence on their own. The teacher becomes only the FACILITATOR of this activity.
This unit includes the COMMON CORE POETRY STUDY that replaces Lesson TEN. I am planning to use this template since I think it would be more of a POERY OF THE WEEK STUDY. This study will enhance my students' knowledge of poetry. You can also check out my COMMON CORE POETRY STUDY UNIT which is posted separately.
I have developed first two units. Each unit is unique and baldly states the explanation of every reading comprehension skill.
I hope you will find it helpful to your classroom. I will continue to develop all the units of this Third Grade Reading series. One thing that I am personally excited about is that the students are being challenged to look deep into the text for answers and at the same time are asked to provide evidence based answers.
