Let students explore who they are as a person and where they belong in this world with this 90 page unit. It begins with themselves belonging to a family. Then progress into where they live (in a home) that is in a neighborhood that then makes up a community. Communities can be urban, suburban or rural. Discuss how they live in a city/town, state, country, continent and world. Discussion on being a good citizen and making good/bad choices ties up this unit. Students will make a self-portrait, make matches of types of homes, make a communities bulls-eye, make a stair-step book about the progression of where they live, they will locate their city within their state and more! Included are directions for all activities and diagrams, student activity sheets, clipart of all states(each state has it's own page with large state outline), resource book list, website list and more. This will allow your students to get a firm foundation of where they live in this world and how to be a good citizen in it. This is a great unit to do prior to introducing map skills. I will be uploading MAP IT OUT! A unit all about map skills.
