This activity is a great way to tie in real world examples of rates, ratios, and proportions in the math classroom. Students watch a short (classroom appropriate) clip of the popular movie "Mean Girls" and then are given the opportunity to work collaboratively to determine the calculations of day-to-day foods based on the nutritional label. Finally, students are asked to draw conclusions about the activity. This is a great time for students to use "math talk" and learn from each other.
