This task card resource gets your students thinking about and working with mean, mode and median.
Students will need a pencil and ruler to complete this activity. (A calculator is optional.)
This resource includes:
• Minds-On Task – this page can be used as a diagnostic, entrance slip, or a full group introduction to the task. I like to do this page with the whole group, projecting it so all can see, then letting the students work on individual whiteboards or their notebooks to answer the task.
• 12 Task Cards – these mean, mode and median task cards make a great math station or partner activity, or you can also project each card and have students work on whiteboards for a full group activity or exit slip after a lesson. I like to use these to set up a math station with the task cards and have students answer on the provided recording sheet for an easy formative assessment for you.
• Journal Prompt – printed 4 to a page for easy photocopying, this journal prompt is designed for students to give a written response to a deep-thinking question. It can also be used as an oral prompt or exit slip.
• Answer Page – students can self-check their answers during math stations, or you can use the page for more formal checks.
