• 4 Measures in 4/4 (16 beats)
• 8 Measures in 4/4 (32 beats)

They are made to fit the sets of 50 foam blocks that you can buy from the Dollar Store. You can also fill the boxes with wooden tiles (like scrabble tiles - I use sharpies to write 1-beat rhythms on blank tiles), laminate the sheets and write in the boxes using dry-erase markers, or use them like worksheets (paper and pencil). You could also use them as a dictation assessment for older or more advanced students.
These can be used as a rhythm assessment, as a composition tool, or as a game in which students compose rhythms. I like to have students work in pairs when they play the game. Students create rhythms, and their partners have to clap the composed rhythm correctly before they can switch jobs.
