This is a sample of several daily measuring practice drills. Feel free to have a look at these. My entire collection is available as PDFs and editable Word files, so they may be customized to suit your students and needs.
These drills are meant to start a class in the same way you might begin a class with math-fact practice. They begin with length and move on to area, circumference, and then on to other units. Most require answers in both metric and US customary units, but some are calibrated to print with one unit only to be measure in one system of measurement only. There is an associated set of estimating drills that can be used in the prior year to develop estimating skills in the same units. Search for Estimate It! to find them. Feel free to use, edit, or disregard the second page. I print these two-sided and use the checklist as a reminder of our class routine.
