Description

Need to practice nonstandard measurement and measure height? This is an experimental Google Slides set that combines math and social studies practice. Perfect to use for centers, assessment, independent practice, early finishers, homework, group work, as well as during distance learning or hybrid.

WAIT! Before purchasing, check out KINDERGARTEN MATH Bundle!

First and foremost, I’ve created this set to practice nonstandard measurement where kids will measure height of objects and people. Secondly, while developing this resource, the idea grew even further. I’ve decided to add the element of fun and that’s why I’ve mentioned social studies above.

Kids will travel around the world to various countries (sometimes they will even travel in time, ex. Ancient Egypt) and measure how tall this or that object / person is with various nonstandard measurement tools (math manipulatives that are moveable pieces). Kids will also learn new things about the countries (India, Egypt, the Philippines, Spain, Switzerland) while watching short videos about these countries and their symbols.

I guarantee, your students will enjoy this resource and your lesson overall.

Since it is the experimental set, I would love to hear from you. Make sure to leave a review after the purchase and let me know what you think and what your students thought about this resource.

The set contains Google Slides which kids can use independently or with the whole class. You can watch videos mentioned in slides (fully or partly) but they are optional. These videos will of course help kids learn more about the countries and introduce some new vocabulary for the objects they will measure. I suggest you watch the videos yourself and decide if they are suitable for your class (and if you want to show the videos entirely or choose certain segments).

Also, you can always differentiate the slides: delete some or rearrange them.
