I created these posters to help students create measurement benchmarks for metric and standard measurements.
Posters are in color, but designed so they don't used a lot of ink!
There are posters for the following measurement benchmarks:
inch – width of a quarter
foot – length of a football
yard – length of a baseball bat
mile – you can walk it in 20 minutes
ounce – slice of bread
pound – loaf of bread
cup – juice box
pint – large glass
quart – half of OJ carton
gallon – jug of milk
millimeter – thickness of a dime
centimeter – width of your finger
decimeter – length of a new crayon
meter – half the height of a door
kilometer – you can walk it in 12 min.
gram – paper clip
kilogram – textbook
milliliter – teaspoon
liter – half of a soda bottle
There is a poster for each of the above and include the statement (example)....
When you hear....yard....think about the length of a baseball bat
When you hear....gram....think about the weight of a paperclip
When you hear....liter....think of a half a bottle of soda
If you have any questions...don't hesitate to contact me. These posters have really helped my students create a visual in their minds about benchmark measurements.
