### Description

Put on your safety goggles because it's time for some experiments! Are you up for converting measurements in ten different math challenges? Then you've come to the right place! If you're looking for ways to make a fun classroom transformation, this is the activity for you! In this scientist activity, 4th grade students will embark upon a day of science "experiments" where they have to solve 10 measurement conversion math activities that are challenges that relate directly to math in the real world. A print and digital version are included in every room transformation.

When many people think of classroom transformations, they think:

ā€œThis would take me hours to set up.ā€

ā€œThis is going to cost so much money.ā€

ā€œThis looks so overwhelming.ā€

ā€œI could never do this!ā€

What if I told you classroom transformations could be EASY to set up, FUN to implement, and STRESS-FREE?

A room transformation changes your room into a certain setting or theme to engage students in their own learning with rigorous content.

Classroom transformations are possible in EVERY classroom. You donā€™t have to spend hours of your time setting up a classroom transformation or spend lots of money to make it SO MUCH FUN!

A Quick Description

Print out all 10 science posters and all 10 aligned fourth grade challenges. Distribute them around your room. Give each child a recording sheet. Explain to students that they will become scientists and will need to complete all ten challenges! They have to find all ten challenges you've left around the classroom and find the answers to each one. They use the recording sheet to mark off each challenge as they go.

How to Play

Step 1: Tell your class that they are scientists today and will practice measurement conversions. Students solve math challenges set up around the room. They can be completed in any order and you can choose how many challenges students complete or what time frame they have to meet YOUR needs.

Set-up is quick and easy. Simply print the 10 posters, the math worksheets, and a recording sheet for each student. Place them around your room and youā€™re ready to begin! Additional door dĆ©cor, editable name tags, editable admission tickets, and themed banner are included if you want to use them!

Step 2: Let students move around the room and solve each challenge. Each time students solve a math challenge, they go to the teacher to get it checked. Students can work independently, in partners, or groups. Your choice!

Step 3: When students finish all ten challenges (or however many you assign), they win! You can give them the certificate of completion included.

Step 4: Most of the time, there are early or fast finishers! These kiddos get to go around the room and scan the QR codes provided! Each QR code leads to a fun fact about scientists that they can record on the sheet provided or a piece of notebook paper. This keeps everyone happy and on task!

There is an editable challenge paper included. This means if one of the challenges doesn't work for your classroom, you can make your own! There are ten pre-made challenges included for you to use but we all know sometimes changes are necessary to best fit your classroom :) These challenges are aligned to Common Core and TEKS.

This is a perfect review activity before giving a metric or customary measurement assessment or as an extra practice activity. Step by step lesson plans are included so you know exactly what to do. It can be used as a spiral review and is easy to set up and implement. The QR codes add in technology as well. Classroom transformation ideas are a new trend in education and can set the stage to engage!

These classroom transformations can be used for elementary children as a worksheet alternative, printables, in math stations, center rotations, math centers, as enrichment or remediation, in small groups, as test prep, as worksheets,Ā escape room alternatives, homework practice (take what you donā€™t finish home for homework), digital theme days, end of year themed days, classroom transformation kits, printables, and so much more! These math activities are made to be flexible so you can use them however youā€™d like in your classroom.

You no longer need to spend hours prepping your classroom for your next classroom transformation! These hands on, low prep activities will keep your students engaged while practicing rigorous material at the same time.

A DIGITAL VERSION HAS NOW BEEN ADDED!

With remote learning taking center stage in our communities, a digital version is now included in every room transformation! It's compatible with Google Slidesā„¢ and can be completed 100% digitally. That means no making copies and less prep for you!

How Does a Digital Classroom Transformation Work?

First, invite your students into a video call on whatever learning platform your school district uses. Set the scene and tell your class online what themed day they will be completing.

Then, assign your students the Google Slidesā„¢ activities that come with this digital classroom transformation. Each digital classroom transformation is interactive and has movable pieces for students to enjoy playing with. Every activity can be modified for what works best in your virtual classroom! A digital cover page, digital recording sheet, 10 digital challenges, and a digital certificate are included in the Google Slides file.

Finally, as a digital reward, students are invited to play the self-checking game that shows them fun facts about each room transformation. It's engaging, interactive, and a great way to motivate students throughout the digital room transformation while completing distance learning.

Let's Break Down What Comes in the Digital Version:
