Measurements are like nesting dolls. Just as smaller nesting dolls are hidden within larger nesting dolls, smaller units of measure can be found without larger units. This craftivity is designed to make that analogy a bit more understandable and memorable!
Teachers can choose which of the following measurement worksheets they want their students to complete. (For the model displayed on the cover, I completed the three customary worksheets. You can have students complete as few or as many of the worksheets as you wish.)
1. Customary Length: inch, foot, yard, mile
2. Customary Capacity: cup, pint, quart, gallon
3. Customary Weight: ounce, pound, ton
4. Metric Length: millimeter, centimeter, meter, kilometer
5. Metric Weight: gram, kilogram
6. Metric Capacity: milliliter, liter
After the worksheets are complete, students begin the fun task of assembling the craftivity! Thorough directions (with student-friendly photos) are included. The completed craftivities can be hung on a bulletin board or in the hallway- they create a fun display that shows passers-by exactly what you have been learning in your classroom.
Check out the PREVIEW! Many of the pages are shown.
These would also make great additions to student interactive math notebooks!
