I have created this packet to extend my textbook's measurement unit. Students must learn to estimate measurements across metric and customary systems. This packet has a few introductory activities for measurement (a pre-quiz and word sort), a quiz for the customary system, a mnemonic device teaching method for the metric system, and tons of cross system (metric and customary) assessment questions. It includes study handouts for students and real-world experiences with measuring across systems. 7 pages of assessment are multiple choice and made so that you can use some of the questions for teaching students how to think about "jumping across systems" and enough that they can practice with the same type of question with different numbers.
Example of cross measurement questions: Bobby ran a race that was 6K. About how many miles was the length of this race?
You get a zip file with the worksheets in PDF and word format AND a smartboard file for the metric prefixes teaching lesson. Answer keys also included.
See the preview download for entire contents.
