Product Description
I make a mini golf course using butcher paper. Each hole has its own butcher paper so the kids can be in a group and rotate through the course. Then on each hole I put a different non standard measurement tool (ex: book, safety pins, pencil, unifix cubes, etc)This is the score card I use to play. Before we start I let the students go through as a group to write their estimate of the number of item they think it will take in a crayon or marker so they cannot erase it. When all of the students are done as a class we go though the different holes and the students are then able to measure the actual amount it took. On the bottom of the score card there is a total for the estimated column and the actual column and I score them and let the students figure out who was the closest.This is always one of my biggest hits of the year. You could actually do this with standard measurement. When I moved up to third grade I used standard measurement with them,
