This is a set of 16 task cards designed to give students practice measuring to the nearest eighth of an inch (including quarters and halves, also). Each card contains a picture and a measurement line, along with 4 choices. Measurements range from less than 1 inch to just over 4 inches.
I use these with small groups in my math class because I still have students who are having a hard time with the fractions of an inch, both with reading it correctly and writing it in simplest form. I teach above level fifth grade, but these could certainly be used with a variety of levels. I wanted something that I could have kids practice while I work with small groups. When I run the set of cards off, I have to print each set and not use our school's photocopier (because our copier makes things a tiny bit smaller than the original, which can cause problems for measurement tasks).
The file is a 6-page PDF, including 4 pages of task cards (4 per page), a 1-page recording sheet, and an answer key.
