Description

Memory Match is the perfect card game to practice converting between units of measurement! This download includes 2 versions of the game: the metric system and the customary system.

In each game, students will practice converting larger units to smaller units for length, capacity, and mass in order to make the most matches. For example, if they flip over "100 cm." and "1 m." they have a match!

Units include:

Metric system version:

  • length - millimeter, centimeter, meter, and kilometer
  • capacity - milliliter and liter
  • mass - gram and kilogram

Customary system version:

  • length - inch, foot, yard, mile
  • capacity - cup, pint, quart, gallon
  • mass - ounce, pound, ton

This download includes:

  • teacher directions
  • how to play student directions
  • metric system version (24 cards, 12 matches)
  • customary system version (24 cards, 12 matches)
  • answer keys for each version

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
