At the start of the year I like to review some of the lab equipment my students have used in the past as well as introduce some items that may be new for the upcoming year.
I use this 8 station activity to get kids up and working together. (I actually double it and have 16 stations in my room so that kids can work in pairs). During the rotation the students will visit a light microscope, a beaker of liquid, a spring scale, a meter stick, a thermometer, a graduated cylinder of liquid and a couple more. Some of the stations ask the students to utilize the equipment to take measurements while others ask students to compare and contrast one piece of equipment with another.
Included in this bundle:
* 1 page teacher preparation and set up guide including instructions on how to set up 8 or 16 stations with diagram.
* 2 page student worksheet (word document)
* 9 slide PowerPoint of the "answers" to assist in going over the results with the entire class at the end of the activity.
The student sheet and PowerPoint are editable so that you can insert your own answers for station measurements depending on what you had at your station to measure.
