Students will create a blueprint of a zoo and 5 different animal habitats within that zoo. Students will measure the lengths of each of the sides of their animal habitats and will ultimately create a line plot from these lengths. Students have to design the lengths of most of the habitats; however, some lengths are already set to challenge higher order thinking skills. Students will then create a compass rose to place within their zoo and give information such as the giraffe habitat is NorthWest of the bear habitat. Students LOVE this authentic assessment and it truly challenges their understanding of the standards.
