Measurement and Data Kindergarten Flip Cards (Concept and Task Cards)
Measurement and Data Flip Cards for Kindergarten are a combination of concept cards and task cards that cover all common core standards for the Measurement and Data domain for Kindergarten.
Measurement and Data Flip Cards contain 28 different cards for Grade K based on the Common Core State Standards for the Measurement and Data domain.
Measurement and Data Flip Cards help with understanding of measureable attributes using pictures with the words shorter/longer, taller/shorter, lighter/heavier, holds more/holds less, more/less, and fewer/more. Measurement and Data Flip cards also focus on having students understand the difference between when objects are the same and when they are different based on their attributes. Students will learn how to sort objects and be introduced to the use of a Venn diagram to help sort objects. Students will be introduced to the idea of a graph showing the frequency for each of two different objects. Blank cards are also included for the teacher to add any other concepts or tasks to this flip card set.
Math flip cards are a cross between task cards and concept cards that can be part of an interactive notebook. Some cards explain concepts, and other cards ask students to complete a certain task in order to understand a concept. These flip cards are designed to be copied, laminated, and taped in a stack as shown on either a heavy piece of cardstock or on different sides of a file folder. Lamination is needed so that students can practice the skills of each objective, erase, and then practice again at a later time. Two stacks can be made on each side for a total of up to eight different stacks with one file folder. The titles at the bottom of each card should show as they are taped down, one on top of the other. Answers can also be written on the back of cards for students to check.
Flip cards can be used for class instruction, in learning centers, for independent review, or in a game setting. Answers and/or additional problems can be written on the reverse side of the card if the teacher chooses to do so. The cards can be printed in color or grayscale. For long term use, you will want to laminate the cards first so that students can write and erase on each card using a dry-erase marker.
The following Common Core standards are covered:
Describe and compare measurable attributes.
Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has "more of"/"less of" the attribute, and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
Classify objects and count the number of objects in each category.
Classify objects into given categories; count the numbers of objects in each category and sort the categories by count.
