In this packet you will receive 5 measurement activities to help teach and reinforce your little learners measurement skills in a fun and active way. This packet can be used whole group or as center activiites!
The 5 activities are as follows:
Activity #1: Measurement Printables!
Cut out the rulers at the bottom of the sheet. Use the ruler to measure the different pictures and write the measurement on the line.
Activity #2: Measuring my Buddy!
Partner children up. Make sure each child gets a activity sheet of their buddy’s gender. (i.e. if my buddy is a boy I have a boy sheet). Supply the students with paper clips to make a chain. Model for the children how to measure each body part. Allow them to measure and record on their sheets their findings!
Activity #3: Measuring with my Name!
Have the child write their name on the cube train. Put the sheet on a clipboard. Then they will make a cube train with the amount of letters in their name (i.e. Mary will have a cube train with 4 cubes). Then set them free with their cube train and clipboard having them explore the room finding things shorter and longer than their cube train name.
Activity #4: Make a Measurement Display!
Copy and cut out the frames on the following pages. Have the children draw a picture of themselves or place a photo of themselves inside the frame. Decorate the frame. The teacher or another child will measure a child with a piece of yarn. cut it to the length of the child’s height. Decorate a bulletin board or wall putting each child’s picture above their piece of yarn showing their height.
Activity #5: Use the Display to answer questions!
Use the bulletin board made in Activity #4 to answer the questions on Activity #5 sheet.
