Product Description
Includes decimal answers that require rounding to the nearest tenth!

My students "know" how to calculate the mean and median, but until I give them a real-world context, they don't really understand why they need it. These 16 task cards feature more than just step-by-step calculations for the mean and median. Students are asked to justify which measure of center best summarizes the data and to compare different data sets! It requires them to think a little deeper and to think about the numbers that go into the calculations.

These cards are perfect for whole class, small groups, reteaching, reviewing, test prep, extra credit, centers, additional practice, resource groups, and more! Because of the varying nature of the questions, this set of task cards isn't designed for games like "Scoot." Some questions require more calculation and justifying than others.

Break Down of Question Types:
4 Mean Calculations (given a list of data, what is the mean?)
4 Median Calculations (given a list of data, what is the median?)
4 Comparative Mean Data sets (compare the mean of two sets of data)
4 Justifying the Best Measure of Center (would the mean or median best describe the data - keep in mind that these answers/justifications can vary from the answer key)
