Get your students moving w/ this Interdisciplinary activity where students are asked to count how many times they can jump rope without stopping. Students collect class data then find the measures of central tendency. Outliers are also discussed. Students are then asked a follow up question where they have to analyze the data to decide which measure is best for a particular situation. Finally students are asked to calculate the mean absolute deviation of multiple sets of data and make comparisons and inferences from them. Lesson plan and answer key are provided for the two student pages.
